Brwydr y Bwystfil yw’r gêm newydd ar Android neu iPhone gan gwmni o Gaerdydd, Dojo Arcade. ‘Da chi’n cymryd rhan person sy’n gyfrifol am greaduriaid bach sy’n cymryd pob lliw a llun gyda’r nôd o’u … yrm … anfon i fewn i faes y gâd a brwydro yn erbyn creaduriaid bach eraill. Nafede, digital cockfighting.

Ond peidiwch a phoeni – nid oes un o’r creaduriaid bach yn cael ei niweidio go iawn ar ôl y frwydr. Dipyn bach o gwsg a brecwast swmpus ac mae nhw’n barod i fynd nôl i’r cell cwffio unwaith eto. Ac eto. Ac eto. Jysd gobeithio, rhyw bryd yn y dyfodol, y bydd Dojo Arcade yn patsio i fewn y gallu i ddod â psychological profiler i sicrhau bod meddylfryd y trueiniad bach yma yn iachus. Ni oll wedi gweld sut oedd Rocky yn slyrio wedi paffio gymaint.

Mae’r brwydrau yn hwyl, efo 4 sgil i’ch bawd eu galw i fewn – megis creu corwynt, neu saethu draenen enfawr at eich gelyn – gan ddod ac elfen dactegol i’r gem a gwneud brwydrau gwahanol yn aml yn unigryw ac yn newydd. Weithiau mi ddowch ar draws creadur sy’n rhy gryf i’ch un chi efo sgiliau pwerus, felly bydd rhaid meddwl eto am y sgiliau sydd gan eich creadur.

Ond mae popeth yn iawn oherwydd mi fedrwch … yrm … genetically modifio y creaduriaid er mwyn … yrm … neud nhw yn well am frwydro. Fi’n teimlo fel bod angen rhyw fath o bilateral treaty rhyngwladol i wasanaethu hawliau y bwystfilod yma.

Ac mae modd cynllunio galluoedd a gwelediad unigryw ar gyfer cyfansoddiad eich dude bach chi, e.e. lliwiau, clustiau, sgiliau, a siap y corff.

Hynny yw, mae’r creaduriaid oll yn cael ei creu mewn … yrm … LABORDY? Come on Dojo Arcade! Tyfu anifeiliad er mwyn brwydro a neud cash! Iasu mowredd am fywyd truenus.

Mae’r gem yn rhedeg yn ddigon slic a’i welediad yn glir, yn enwedig yn ystod y cyfnodau yn yr ardal brwydro. Gall y dewislenni edrych bach yn drwsgwl ac mae sgrolio yn lletraws yn teimlo yn gyfyngus, ond mae’n gweithio. Profiad digon hwylus efo’r elfen chwareus hynny o ‘un brwydr bach arall’, mae amser da yma yn enwedig ar gyfer pobl iau a phlant.

Mae’r gem ar gael mewn sawl iaith (ond pan yn chwilio am y gêm i’w lawrlwytho bydd rhaid i chi nodi Creature Battle Lab, sef enw Saesneg y gêm). Felly medrwch brofi hon yn unswydd drwy’r Gymraeg. GWYCH! Yn anffodus mae ambell ddewislen heb ei drosi i’r Gymraeg, felly pan yn creu eich creadur fe ddowch ar draws enghreifftiau o ddewislen cyfan yn y Saesneg. Hawdd bydd newid hwn wrth gwrs yn y dyfodol.

Mae’r gêm am ddim i’w lawrlwytho efo elfennau talu am asedau o fewn y gêm ei hun. Mae’n strwythur adnabyddus i unrhywun sy’n hen law ar lawrlwytho gemau ar eich ffonau. Mae modd profi’r peth yn gwbl am ddim ond yn gyflymach wrth dalu. Ar y cyfan, os yw’r gêm am ddim, dwi’n hapus talu fyny at £5 am wahanol agweddau os dwi’n meddwl fod y peth o werth, ac, yn yr enghraifft yma mae digon o bolish a hwyl ar gael i mi roi ambell geiniog i’r gwneuthurwyr. Er rhaid dweud, dwi’m yn siwr faint o sylw byddaf wedi rhoi i’r gem na phetai ar gael drwy’r Gymraeg.

Hefyd, noder dwi ddim wedi dweud son am Pokémon, unwaith. Ond am jysd nawr.

A nawr, er hwylusdod i’r gwneuthurwyr, fersiwn Saesneg o’r adolygiad. Gyrrwch eich hate mail i’r llefydd arferol.

Creature Battle Lab is a new Android or iPhone game from Cardiff developers Dojo Arcade. You play the role of person in charge of small creatures that come in all shapes and sizes with the aim of … erm … sending them into battlefields to fight other small creatures. Digital cockfighting.

But don’t worry, none of the creatures come to real harm after the battle. A little bit of sleep and a hearty breakfast and they’re ready to go back to the pits to fight again. And again. And again. Hopefully at some point in the future, Dojo Arcade will patch in the ability to employ a psychological profiler to ensure the mental wellbeing of these little buggers. We’ve all seen how Rocky slurred after all those bouts.

The battles are fun, with 4 skills for your thumb to engage with – such as creating a hurricane, or a huge thorn to shoot at your enemy – bringing a keen tactical element on the fly to the game, creating unique battles which are often energetic but hardly ever repeated. Sometimes you come across a creature with powerful skills that is too strong for yours, so you will have to think again about the skills that your creature has.

But everything is fine because you can … erm … genetically modify the creatures to … erm … be more powerful in battle. I feel that this world requires some international bilateral treaties to secure the rights of these wee beasties.

You can design your small dudes with multiple choices at your fingertips – from their ears, eyes and noses to a range of powerful abilities, as well as the colour and shape of their bodies.

That is, the creatures are all being grown in a … erm … LAB? Come on Dojo Arcade! Growing creatures to fight and get rich? These poor wretches, they never knew a gentle breeze or a beautiful sunset…

The game runs smoothly and the graphics are clear, especially in the battling arenas. The menus look a little unwieldy and scrolling horizontally on many of the menu choices feels clumsy, but it works. This is a slick experience and has that ‘one more battle’ feel to it. It is a lot of fun, especially for younger people and children.

The game is available in several languages (but when looking for the game to download you must specify Creature Battle Lab, the English name of the game). So you can try this solely in Welsh. FANTASTIC! Unfortunately there are a few menus unconverted into Welsh, so when creating your creature you come across examples of a whole menu in English. This, of course, can easily be changed in the future.

The game is free to download with paid-for assets within the game itself. It’s a well-known system to anyone who’s a dab hand at mobile games. It’s possible to experience the game for free, but progression is faster after paying. All in all, if a game is free, I’m happy to pay up to £5 for certain aspects if I think it’s of value, and in this case there’s plenty of extra polish and fun available which justifies a few extra pence to the developers. Although I must say, I’m not sure how much attention I would have given to the game if it weren’t available through Welsh.

Also, please note I didn’t mention Pokemon once. Except for just now.
